Risa Sackman

Risa has been practicing yoga for the past 10 years and has loved every moment of the journey. For many of those years, a hectic work schedule (first commuting to NYC as a school educator and administrator, followed by a travel-intensive educational consulting job) made it hard to find the balance and consistent practice she sought (though it did give her the opportunity to experience yoga classes all over the country). With a career change in 2005, Risa began working out of her Frenchtown, NJ home as a writer, consultant, and private tutor. One of the many benefits of this new situation has been that she is able to devote more time to yoga.

With a time for regular yoga practice, she found she wanted even more. Risa completed her teacher training  at Yoga Loka in 2006. It is the mind and body connection that excites Risa the most. As a person who spends much of her time in the world of the mind, she enjoys the sense of peace and well-being the practice offers the body as well. Having taught in many other contexts, Risa is now eager to share her enthusiasm for the yoga practice with others.
